COMMUTER CARPET (2007)

A mosaic carpet for Chicago’s Francisco “L” station.

The underfloor heating system for this project failed within a year of installation and was not replaced. After 18 years of salting and scraping snow during the harsh Chicago winters, the mosaic was in disrepair and was removed.  This is the only lost site that the artist submitted herself and painted for The Disappointed Tourist.

Commissioned by the Chicago Transit Authority.
